# Hotlist: what's trending in data, tech and AI, by day

> The top 20 trending terms of every day in data, tech and AI (models, AI tools, developer tools, databases, chips, companies, people), scored from public engagement signals, by fru.dev. 30 days and 145 terms so far.

Each day (UTC) Hotlist reads Hacker News, Reddit, GitHub, Hugging Face models, Hugging Face papers, arXiv, Product Hunt, Google Trends, fru.dev sites; it finds the terms named in titles (a lexicon of known names, model versions read from the text such as "GPT-5.5", and new names that several items share), weights each term's share of engagement per source, compares it with the term's own 14-day average, and ranks the day's top 20. One batched Gemini call a day at most merges spellings of new names; everything else is deterministic. LinkedIn has no public API and is not a source. The refresh runs daily at 05:45 UTC. Last successful refresh: 2026-09-24 06:24:57 UTC.
